Can I install my train shelving on my own or do I need to hire a professional?
We have found the average handyman can install the shelving over a weekend with assistance from one addition person. See our instructions posted on the website for details.
I am building a new home. Can I have Freedom Train Shelving built in?
Yes. We would love to help design your track location and installation. Just contact us and we can work with you and your builder to ensure your ultimate satisfaction.
How long does an average installation take?
The installation of an average sized room will take a handyman and one helper a weekend to complete. There are a number of factors to consider, such as your room size and shape as well as how you plan on finishing your shelving, but we have found two, 6 to 8 hour days will have your shelving ready to accept your train track. What tools are needed to install my Freedom Train Shelving?
Most of the tools required, are those owned by the average handyman. If you do not own one of these tools, you should first check available at a local tool rental supply. This will eliminate the need to purchase anything additional.

How much weight will Freedom Train Shelving support?
Freedom Train Shelving is rated at 30 lb. Per linear foot, but has been "real-life" at significantly greater loads. This shelving will support all collectable trains manufactured.
Can I purchase this product locally?
Freedom Train Shelving is manufactured and shipped from Denver, Colorado. If you would like to place an order through your favorite hobby shop or train supplier, simply ask them to contact us.
Can I have multiple tracks on the same shelving?
Yes. On our standard shelving, it is also possible to run multiple HO and On30 trains on a single shelf. We also manufacture a 10 inch shelving which can hold multiple tracks for the larger scales (O and G).
How do I turn on my trains if they are suspended high on the wall?
If you do not use a remote control, it is possible to install a switch to turn your transformer off and on. We have used this method with great success, for installations in children's rooms.
How long will shipping take?
We ship via UPS ground and your shipment should arrive within 2 weeks. Quicker methods are available at an additional fee. Simply let us know what you need and we will work with you.

Does my shelving come finished?
Freedom Train Shelving has a smooth natural finish when it arrives, but you may elect to finish it with a varnish or polyurethane. Should you wish to paint the shelving, a coat of primer will be needed.
What is Sure-Lok?
Sure-Lok is the aircraft strength channeling used to secure your shelving to the wall.
